Jade carving of a foreigner and a dog from the Song dynasty. The face and the robe of the foreigner is carefully carved, the movement of the body is very realistic. It has a long, dark russet line on the back and few brown spots on the significant hat of the man. 

Private English collection from the 1990s. The previous owner either purchased it at Christie’s South Kensington around 1995 or from a Taiwanese collector, who moved to Taiwan with the government in the early 20th century, by the name Chen Sou Kang.
